This Taylor ham and egg sandwich on a toasted flat brioche bun is so easy and delicious!

The Deets
My oh, my is this Taylor ham (pork roll) and egg sandwich next level! I rolled out a brioche bun to make it super thin and fried it up. This was the perfect vessel to eat this breaky sandy full of yumminess. If you’re not familiar with Taylor ham, it’s pork roll, and was invented in New Jersey. It’s kind of a cross between Canadian bacon and ham, which means it’s the perfect ingredient to go on an egg sandwich. You’re going make a soft scramble to start and mix in your cheese. I love cheddar, but you can really use whatever you want and however much you want! Next you’ll roll out your bun with a rolling pin until it’s nice and thin. Just fry that up until it’s nice and crispy. Before you cook your pork roll you’re going to want to make two incisions on it – this will help it cook flat in the pan. Once your egg and Taylor ham are all cooked up, you’ll assemble it on your flat crispy brioche roll. Be sure to follow up for more breakfast ideas here!
Taylor Ham and Egg Sandwich
Ingredients
- 1-2 eggs
- A dash of half and half
- Taylor ham available at most grocery stores, also called pork roll
- Brioche bun
- Cheese of choice most people love a classic American, I love cheddar… to each their own, shredded / slices
- Olive oil
- Salt
- pepper
- Franks
- Butter
Instructions
- In a medium skillet, melt butter on very high heat. Whisk 1-2 eggs (depending on hunger levels) in a bowl with a dash of half and half, salt and pepper. Add whisked eggs to skillet. Pan should be on high heat, and using a spatula, push the eggs into ribbons for about 1 minute. Add cheddar and turn heat to low and cook for another 2 minutes or until eggs are fluffy and cheese is melted.
- The pork roll tends to form a cupped shape when It cooks, so you’ll want to make an incision on one side of the slice 1/2 through the circle. In the same pan, add slices of pork roll and cool 2-3 min per side. The incision should make the pork slice stay flat on the pan.
- This step is optional: Step 3: For a crispy pancake style bun, using a rolling pan to roll out brioche until it is super thin. Melt butter in same pan and add brioche. Cook 2-3 min per side or until crisp.
- Assemble your sandwich: add egg/cheese to crispy roll with ham, and hot sauce. Enjoy!
