One of my favorite ways to stack a homemade English muffin- this is my Taylor ham (also known at pork roll), egg and cheese sandwich. These are made on homemade sourdough discard English muffins.

The Deets:
Let me tell you, this is hands down one of my all-time favorite ways to stack a homemade English muffin, and I can’t wait to share it with you. Growing up in New Jersey, I learned early on that Taylor ham—also famously known as pork roll—is the ultimate ingredient for crafting the best breakfast sandwich ever. It’s a beloved staple that sparks endless debates among New Jerseyans over what to call it: Taylor ham or pork roll. Whichever side of the argument you’re on, one thing is certain—this delicious, savory meat is a must-try if you’ve never experienced it before.
So here’s how you’re going to make this. Grab a toasted English muffin, layered with a slice of sizzling Taylor ham, gooey melted cheese, and a fried egg for extra indulgence. Every bite is packed with bold, salty, and smoky flavors. This sandwich is soo satisfying. If you’re looking for a breakfast sandwich that truly hits the spot, trust me, this one is an absolute game-changer. Let me know what you think in the comments! Check out more breakfast inspo here.

Taylor ham egg & cheese on a homemade english muffin
Ingredients
- 2 Eggs
- 2 tbsp Butter
- 1 English muffin
- Taylor ham (available at most grocery stores, also called pork roll)
- Cheese of choice (most people love a classic American, I love cheddar… to each their own), shredded / slices
- Franks hot sauce
- Salt
- Pepper
- Ketchup optional
Instructions
- The pork roll tends to form a cupped shape when It cooks, so you’ll want to make an incision on one side of the slice 1/2 through the circle. In the same pan, add slices of pork roll and cool 2-3 min per side. The incision should make the pork slice stay flat on the pan.
- In a medium skillet, melt butter and crack 2 eggs. Season with salt and pepper. Cook for 2-3 min for a sunny side up egg. Drizzle with franks
- Toast english muffin in toaster or with some butter in a skillet.
- Add ketchup with adding, eggs and pork roll. Enjoy!
