This Jam & Prosciutto Goat Cheese Grilled Cheese is an easy way to upgrade a classic grilled cheese. Goat cheese, prosciutto, and jam come together between slices of bread and are cooked until the cheese is warm and the bread is toasted.

It’s a simple sandwich for lunch, brunch, or an easy dinner and comes together with just a few ingredients. You can use your favorite jam depending on what you have on hand or what’s in season.

Jam & Prosciutto Goat Cheese Grilled Cheese

This Jam & Prosciutto Goat Cheese Grilled Cheese is an easy sandwich made with goat cheese, prosciutto, and jam. It’s a great option for a quick lunch, brunch, or simple weeknight meal.

Ingredients

Serves 2 sandwiches
  • 4 slices sourdough bread
  • 9 oz goat cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh basil
  • 6 slices prosciutto
  • 1 tbsp butter or olive oil for toasting

The jam (made in an 8oz cocotte) *See note

  • 3/4 cup blackberries
  • 1/2 lemon
  • 1/2 cup sugar

Instructions

  • Make blackberry jam: Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Add blackberries, lemon and sugar to cocotte and let macerate for 30 minutes.
  • Transfer to the oven and bake for 30 minutes. I like to put the cocotte on a baking sheet to ensure no dripping in the oven. Once done, let cool and transfer to the fridge for at least 30 more minutes to let it firm up.
  • Make the goat cheese: Chop fresh basil into ribbons and combine with softened goat cheese, and honey.
  • Assemble melt: Scoop goat cheese spread onto sourdough bread and spread in an even layer. Top with shredded mozzarella cheese a few spoonfuls of jam and 3 slices of prosciutto. Close sandwich.
  • Add oil/butter to a skillet and add sandwich. Cook for about 4-5 min per side on medium to low heat, until cheese is melty and the bread is golden brown. Enjoy!

Notes

*Note: When I am making a small batch of jam, I like to bake it in an 8oz cocotte. Alternatively, you could to it on the stovetop. To make a small batch of blackberry jam on the stovetop, add the blackberries, sugar, and lemon juice to a small saucepan over medium heat. Cook for 10–15 minutes, stirring often and gently mashing the berries as they soften, until the mixture thickens to a jam-like consistency. Remove from the heat and let cool before using, keeping in mind the jam will continue to thicken as it cools.
