Asiago crusted crostinis

These Asiago-crusted crostinis are the ultimate upgrade to your appetizer game. Instead of sprinkling cheese on top, you grate Asiago directly into the baking dish, then press your crostini slices right onto it. As they bake, the cheese melts and crisps around the bread, creating golden, lacy edges that are buttery, salty, and irresistibly crunchy.

Once they’re brown and bubbly, you can top them with just about anything. I went for a slice of prosciutto, crisp honeycrisp apples, and a drizzle of hot honey for that perfect mix of salty, sweet, and spicy. They’re easy, elegant, and such a fun way to level up a holiday appetizer spread.

Ingredients

Serves 12 crostinis

The crostinis:

  • 1 cup Asiago, grated
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • A sprinkle of red pepper flakes
  • 4 tbsp melted butter, divided
  • Baguette

The toppings:

  • Prosciutto
  • Honeycrisp apples
  • Hot honey

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 400˚F. In a small bowl combine grated asiago, garlic powder and red pepper flakes. Mix together.
  • Brush bottom of a baking dish with enough melted butter to coat the bottom, about 1 tbsp.
  • Sprinkle parmesan mixture in an even layer on the bottom of the baking dish. Top with baguette slices, leaving space between each piece. Lightly brush the tops of each piece of baguette with remaining butter.
  • Bake for about 16 minutes or until asiago has browned and crisped and the crostini are lightly toasted on top.
  • Using a spatula, break apart crisped asiago crostini pieces. Add whatever toppings you want, we opted for prosciutto, slices of honeycrisp apples and a drizzle of hot honey. Enjoy!
