Sesame Crusted Seared Tuna Bowls

These Sesame Crusted Seared Tuna Bowls are full of flavor, crunchy veggies and topped with the most perfectly cooked tuna. Perfect for a weeknight dinner or lunch.

Ingredients

The Tuna:

  • 1 Sushi grade tuna steak (1/2 lb of tuna per person)
  • 1 cup sesame seeds
  • A few tbsp of soy sauce
  • Oil for frying (I like avocado oil or another light oil)

The Cucumber Salad:

  • 1 cup cucumbers, diced
  • 1 tbsp Kewpie mayo
  • 1 tbsp sriracha
  • 1 tsp sweet chili sauce
  • 1/2 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 tsp soy sauce
  • Furikake

The Rest:

  • Sushi rice
  • Edamame
  • Scallions, chopped
  • Radishes, thinly sliced

Instructions

  • Wash and pat dry tuna. Coat in a layer of soy sauce. Add sesame seeds to a shallow bowl in an even layer. Coat all sides of the tuna.
  • Get a skillet ripping hot and turn on fan as it will get a little smoky (don’t worry, it’s quick). Once oil is hot, add tuna and let sear for 1-3 min (depending on how thick your steak is). Flip and repeat on other side.
  • Remove and slice into strips. Make cucumber salad by combining all ingredients in a bowl and mixing well until combined. Serve with sushi rice and any other fixings you like! Enjoy!
